James Curtis is the nom de plume of James Curtis Killion, a veteran writer, creative director, and serial entrepreneur.
Jim has ghost written thousands of pages for prominent leaders, most especially luminaries who pastor megachurches or lead major nonprofit organizations. In total, he has served, and written for, more than 300 national and international nonprofit leaders. “It was time to find my own voice and bring to fictional life the personality types I’ve served for decades,” says Jim.
The characters in The Kerr Chronicles are drawn from his close, personal experiences with these prominent ecclesiastical and community leaders. “There is no single character drawn from any one person I’ve known, but it is fair to say that virtually all of the telling traits in The Kerr Chronicles characters rise out of my real-life experiences. At the same time, the books are not at all autobiographical, and readers may be amused to know which characters I most identify with,” says Jim.
The founder of 10 businesses, Jim has served on local, national, and international boards. He has helped raise more than $2 billion for nonprofit causes, and guided several nonprofit organizations through their 100th anniversaries … and one, its 200th anniversary.
Jim’s taste in fiction runs from F. Scott Fitzgerald to Horton Foote and the Aaron Sorkin of "The West Wing"; nonfiction to C.S. Lewis, David McCullough, and Frederick Buechner.
He earned the Bachelor of Arts, History, from the University of Southern California, and a Master of Theology, Christian Education, from Dallas Theological Seminary. Jim and his wife have two children and two grandchildren.
